ENERGY MOVES US ALL

The world is changing rapidly, and the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly visible. Sustainability, digitalization, decentralization, and the democratization of energy can help mitigate these effects. According to climate targets, the energy supply must be fully sustainable by 2050. This presents both challenges and opportunities. And Essent is eager to tackle these with Essent Infrastructure Solutions. EIS is the go-to point of contact for a wide range of energy solutions and the partner that, together with (new) customers, takes the next step in the energy transition with innovative solutions.

OUR APPROACH

To ensure that projects run as smoothly as possible, we work intensively together in three phases: design, build, and operate. The commercial team reviews and assesses the various projects, screens them for risks, and collaborates with engineers to find a suitable solution to offer the client. Together, we create the most innovative local energy systems for businesses, industrial areas, and residential neighborhoods. The advantage of EIS? A dedicated EIS team consisting of business developers, engineers, and asset/customer specialists who work on customized solutions for sustainable technological energy systems. At EIS, we are involved in all phases of the project.

Sustainability on Three Fronts

The Netherlands is working hard on the energy transition, and every challenge is unique. Energy and energy conservation are becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life for every Dutch citizen. To realize energy projects, EIS collaborates with (regional) governments, project developers, housing corporations, grid operators, and market parties to make sustainability possible for end users, including Essent customers. EIS develops smart energy systems with an innovative and ambitious approach. We focus on energy solutions related to Heating and Cooling Networks, Hydrogen, and Mobility and Storage.

Heating and Cooling Networks

EIS works on sustainable custom-made solutions by utilizing local sources as much as possible. We start small and expand modularly using an innovative fifth-generation heating network. This has launched us on a new journey that fits and addresses current and future energy challenges. It's an exciting journey where we learn a lot and grow tremendously. One example of a custom-made solution is ectogrid™. This system captures, balances, and uses excess energy, allowing us to maximize energy efficiency and achieve up to 80% efficiency for all connected assets. The world's first ectogrid™ is at Medicon Village, which also serves as the global innovation and demonstration platform of E.ON, Essent's parent company.

Hydrogen

With hydrogen solutions based on large-scale electrolysis and industrial fuel cells, EIS is at the forefront of the transition to an integrated energy system that smartly combines the most cost-efficient and sustainable technologies. EIS looks for comprehensive solutions that utilize various clean energy sources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, and residual heat. The application of hydrogen is a logical next step. Leveraging the knowledge and experience of our parent company, E.ON, we are testing different technologies intensively, rapidly, and on a large scale. In co-creation with the industry, we aim to develop innovative, integrated solutions and give a strong boost to the hydrogen market.

Mobility & Storage

Within EIS, our colleagues are also actively engaged in Mobility & Storage. We offer fully integrated energy solutions through smart, digital, decentralized management of solar panels, batteries, charging stations, and heating and cooling networks. This ensures that electricity is generated, stored, and redistributed in a completely sustainable manner among homes, buildings, or vehicles.
