THANKS NEW JOB! BIPUL REFERRED VIPIN AS DEVOPS ENGINEER

Gepubliceerd op 20 May 2025
Nearly 25% of our new colleagues choose a job at Essent thanks to the enthusiastic stories from friends and former colleagues who now work here. In Thanks New Job, we shine a spotlight on successful referrals. This time, Vipin Kuriyidathu Venugopalan Potti thanks Bipul Singh for his new job as DevOps Engineer.

How do you two know each other?

Bipul: “We’re friends. Our friendship started when we were both working for Essent via a company named Infosys. Though back then we were based in India. We had been working in the same building for a while, but we really got to know each other once we joined the same team.”

Vipin: “Yes, since then our friendship has grown and we meet up regularly.”

Did you move to the Netherlands at the same time?

Bipul: “No, not quite at the same time. I moved to the Netherlands to work for Essent, as an external employee, back in 2013. Vipin also came to Netherlands in 2014 to work for Essent with the same construction.”

Vipin: “I started working in the Netherlands and over the years I also worked in Belgium for other companies.”

Moving to the Netherlands is quite a big step! Was it a hard decision?

Vipin: “Yes, definitely! You're not just leaving your home country, but also your family. That’s a decision you really have to think through carefully.”

Bipul: “It’s a mix of feelings: on one hand, it’s a big step to live and work in a completely different country, and on the other, it’s also an adventure. I really wanted to experience what it was like to work abroad.”

How did you find your current job at Essent?

Bipul: “At first I worked for Essent but as an external. Then, I worked for other companies before someone pointed me to an internal job at Essent. I actually joined through a referral as well. For me, it was a logical step. Essent is a really good employer. There’s a lot of focus on personal and professional development.”

Vipin: “When Bipul decided to join Essent as an internal employee in the Netherlands, we talked a lot about that outside of work. His stories made me enthusiastic.”

What got you excited?

Vipin: “Essent has made huge strides in technological development. It’s an organization that challenges you as an IT professional and takes the future seriously, where IT plays a key role. I really like that. And just like Bipul said, Essent is a good, stable employer. Over the past few years, I’ve moved a lot for work, and that has an impact on your family. I wanted a stable, fulfilling job and I found that at Essent.”

How did you tell Vipin about the job opening, Bipul?

Bipul: “Since Vipin and I were already in touch, we used to talk about our aspirations and learning and then I shared with him about the opportunity at Essent. I asked him if he would like to come back to the Netherlands. He checked the Job Description and was interested with the position. It was also aligned with his professional and personal goals which was also important for him.”

Vipin: “Yes, that’s right. I want to keep growing. In this new role, within a relatively new label at Essent, I definitely can!”

Do you see each other often at Essent?

Vipin: “Not so much at work, since we’re in different teams. I’m at E-mobility, and Bipul works in the I Pay department as a Solution Architect. But outside of work, we see each other a lot. We hang out and do fun things with our families. And we play cricket. Essent even organizes a tournament every year that we always join.”

What did you do with your €1500 referral bonus, Bipul?

Bipul: “We went with our families together to Radhadesh in Durbuy, Belgium. It’s a spiritual, Hindu center located in a chateau. A really special place. The bonus was a nice extra for a weekend away in Durbuy.”
