Nearly 25% of our new colleagues join Essent based on enthusiastic recommendations from their network and are referred to us for open positions. In Thanks New Job, we celebrate each successful referral recruitment. This time, Jeroen Janssen is thanking Bas van der Stelt for helping him secure his new role as Technical Project Developer. What are your roles at Essent?Bas: "I am a Business Developer in the hydrogen department, working on the development of electrolyzers for producing green hydrogen in the Netherlands."
Jeroen: "I am a Technical Project Developer within the Energy Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) department."
How do you know each other?Jeroen: "Bas and I both started at Ennatuurlijk about four years ago, where we worked in the same role and for the same manager."
Bas: "Yes, we both began as project managers in the Realization department, focusing on the development and implementation of heating and cooling networks. Through our collaboration, I knew exactly what Jeroen's strengths were and how his technical knowledge measured up."
“In my opinion, the perfect candidate”
"When I learned that EIS was looking for new team members and they described what they needed, I realized that Jeroen would be the perfect fit. He has experience in developing energy propositions, implementing these projects, and has always been a great colleague to work with. In my view, he was the ideal candidate. I passed his name along internally and shared the vacancy with him. That’s how the ball started rolling, and I’m thrilled that Jeroen is once again my colleague."
Jeroen: "After Bas referred me, I was contacted by recruiter Paul Römer via LinkedIn. The ambitions and propositions of EIS convinced me that we could build something great here and truly make a difference with Essent in the energy transition."
Are you working closely together now?
Jeroen: "We’re not working together directly, but we see each other often at the office since the EIS and Hydrogen departments are on the same floor."
Bas: "So we’ll still have regular coffee breaks together."
Utilizing Talent
Bas: "EIS has incredibly exciting projects and many opportunities. I believe Jeroen will effortlessly thrive in his new role. My advice is to leverage his talents fully within this great team and to share his knowledge and experience with others. As colleagues, it's important to actively listen and be aware of the needs at Essent, as well as to recognize the strengths of your acquaintances, former colleagues, and friends. That way, you should be able to find a good match."
Paying off the mortgage
Bas: "The €1,500 bonus is now in my savings account and will soon be used to pay down my mortgage faster. Not very exciting, but a good investment."
