Protecting the privacy of applicants is of great importance to Essent.
Therefore, personal data is processed and secured with the utmost care in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This Privacy Statement informs you about how Essent processes your personal data during the application process and how you can exercise your rights regarding personal data.

What personal data do we request and why?
When applying for a position at Essent, we ask you to submit your application online. All relevant personal data for your application will be submitted via our web form. We do not use more personal data than necessary for this purpose, and we will not store your data longer than required. Your data is used to help assess whether we will offer you an employment contract.
We require your data for the following purposes:
- Recruitment and selection purposes;
- To assess your suitability for the position you applied for;
- To contact you during the application process;
- To conduct an interview, test, or assessment (if justified by the nature of the position).
This includes the following personal data:
- Your first name, last name, address, postal code, city, gender, date of birth, email address, phone number, education, CV, references, and availability;
- The results of a screening, personal questionnaire, or assessment, if applicable.
- If we extend a final offer to you, we will also request the following personal data:
- Bank details: for salary payment;
- Emergency contact details: so we know whom to contact in case of an emergency at work.
- Equal opportunity reports will only be generated after data has been anonymized.
Interview, Test, and Assessment
We may ask you to participate in an assessment, a test, or to complete a personality questionnaire and/or participate in an interview—or a combination of these. Information may be generated by us or our assessment service provider. For example, you may complete a written test, or we may take notes during an interview. This information is retained by Essent only for the necessary duration.
Protection of Personal Data
We take the security of your data very seriously. Therefore, we have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that your data is well-protected and processed only for specific purposes.
We Work with Third Parties
Processors are third parties that support us in parts of the recruitment process, such as companies that assist us with assessments. To the extent that these third parties gain access to personal data for their work, we have clear technical and organizational agreements in place to secure the data against loss or unlawful processing.
We collaborate with parties within Europe.
If legally required, Essent may provide personal data to regulatory authorities, tax authorities, and law enforcement agencies.
How Long Are Your Personal Data Retained?
If your application is unsuccessful, we may ask whether you would like your personal data to be stored in our talent pool for one year. In that case, we will proactively contact you for suitable positions.
If your application is successful, the personal data you provided during the application process will be stored as part of your personnel file during your employment. The employee privacy policy specifies the retention periods applicable to personal data during employment with Essent.
If your application does not result in employment, the data you provided will be retained for up to four weeks after the application process concludes. With your consent, they may be stored for one year. If a dispute arises between you and Essent during this period, the data will be retained until the dispute is resolved.
How Are Decisions Made in the Application Process?
The final hiring decision is made by the department manager and members of the recruitment team. All information collected during the recruitment process is considered in making this decision.

Your Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have individual rights regarding your stored personal data. These rights include:
- Access to the personal data that Essent collects about you;
- Correction of any inaccuracies in your personal data;
- Deletion of your data, for example, if it is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected for;
- Restriction of processing, for instance, if the accuracy of your data is disputed;
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interest;
- Data portability, meaning you can request a machine-readable copy of the personal data you provided.
- You can exercise these rights by sending an email to recruitment@essent.nl. You will receive a response within one month.
