Only together can we take the next step in energy. As a Head of Architecture, you are the expert in your field in:

  • Developing and maintaining Essent’s technology roadmap. This roadmap is derived from Essent’s overall strategy and shaped by your personal vision on how to best apply emerging technological trends.
  • Inspiring and advising strategic stakeholders on developments in the (digital) energy market and the impact of technological trends
  • Leading the team of Enterprise Architects and Pathfinders and help balance Buy, Build or Generate decisions for strategic (IT) topics.
  • Embracing and translating the goals and ambitions of E.ON, Essent, and Essent IT into a clear IT strategy, together with the CIO.
  • Contributing as a member of the IT Leadership Team — supporting one another in growing, learning, and improving.
  • Playing an active role in executing Essent’s strategy. As part of the IT Leadership Team, you bring relevant technology topics to the attention of our Board, portfolio governance, and IT management team.
  • Aligning Essent’s technology roadmap with E.ON Digital Technology colleagues and maintaining close collaboration with them.
  • Leading Pathfinding initiatives — exploring and testing emerging practices, patterns and technologies, for instance in the fields of AI, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal Architecture, data platforms, and process automation. 
  • Representing Essent IT internally and externally, sharing your vision on the energy transition, technology in the energy market, and Essent IT’s approach.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with (tech) vendors and challenging them to deliver the right strategic contributions to Essent IT. 

In this role, you’ll be part of the Essent IT Leadership Team and report directly to the CIO of Essent.

You are Essent

We’re looking for team players and go-getters who want to make the Netherlands a little more sustainable — people who focus on what’s possible today to bring us closer to tomorrow. You recognize yourself in this profile:

  • Academic background (BSc.) in Computer Science, Business Information Technology, or a comparable technical field.
  • Proven experience in line management. 
  • Passion for and commitment to the energy transition, architecture, and technology.
  • Strong communication skills — you know how to connect people.
  • Excellent presentation skills, able to deliver a clear and compelling message.
  • A strong technology leader with a track record of managing large and complex technology initiatives — ideally with experience in building IT products for the consumer market.
  • Experience with SAP, AWS, Microsoft Dynamics, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and Event-Driven Architecture is an advantage. 

You’re also comfortable working in an international environment and able to communicate fluently in English. Proficiency in Dutch is important, and German is a plus. Finally, you preferably also have experience in retail and e-commerce, telecommunications, utilities or financial services sector (B2C).
