Software Engineer (Typescript, AWS en Serverless)

At Essent, you really will find yourself in a sweet spot. On the one hand, we believe that the energy transition can only take place by changing people’s behaviour. It is therefore to our advantage that we are the biggest energy company in the Netherlands with a customer base of 2.2 million households. Sweet spot! With smart products, we are helping the Netherlands as a whole to make the energy transition one step at a time. At the same time, with around 250 colleagues, Essent IT is large enough to experience the benefits of a mature business, yet small enough to respond dynamically. With around 200 DevOps engineers in 27 teams, as a team you really have something at your disposal that has end-to-end impact. For example: the apps, the Essent.nl website, or the meter reading AWS app etc. We never sit still: the energy sector and energy transition are a very dynamic world in which we are constantly on the move, and you are largely responsible for determining and making your own journey within this.

Energy moves you

As an engineer, you like solving puzzles. If the puzzle is sufficiently interesting, the work is enjoyable. Of course, we also have the best colleagues, but that is subjective. The puzzles on the  Software engineer – Typescript/AWS/Serverless’ plate include the personalisation of offers to our customers, and they are really end-to-end. But also things such as setting up a scalable integration service with fully automated deployments, and the freedom to experiment with tools and technologies to arrange your work as effectively and efficiently as possible. If you find these puzzles boring, you won’t be happy with us. If these are the puzzles to really make you feel excited, then read on. We work with fantastic technologies, such as Typescript, Postgres, AWS Lambda, AWS Batch and Serverless.

You are Essent

You will be able to crack our puzzles if you recognise yourself in the majority of the following points:

  • Experience with Serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, Amazon CDK and Serverless.com
  • Experience with implementing CICD pipelines and automated testing
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Happy working in an Agile team with DevOps responsibility
We offer you

Working with us on the energy transition and with interesting puzzles are must-haves, but without a good salary (4.796 - 6.851 euro gross per month) and other benefits, that isn’t good enough, of course. A good salary, 30 days’ annual leave, a generous training budget, hybrid working in a multicultural environment, English as the working language, a nice bonus and, of course, a permanent contract, are all included as standard.
